Prusa Mini buddy board overheating ?

I have my Prusa mini for over a year now. I'm printing in a lack enclosure for over 8month without problems (temp is usual <30C in the enclosure , in summer time <35 for about 2-4weeks).

Today I had a strange issue that the mini showed on printstart some errors that the usb-drive is not connected any more and soon the printer shutdown and couldn't be started. The PETG case around the buddyboard was really hot (I didn't even touch the buddy board inside). It was so hot that it is clearly nothing that the buddy board would like to have.

Did anybody experience the same problem?

Buddy board: original with original FW (not on the newest FW, therefore has to be 4.3.4). No changes on the electronics.

Never mind the software, seems to me to be a short in the board somewhere. Good boards don't run hot.

Thank you for the input. It's probably something like that. I see no other reason why the board should suddenly stop working.

I have a cloned buddy board laying around that I could try as a replacement. As soon as I have time for the prusa mini bear upgrade I will probably just buy a bigtreetech board (maybe the "pico" one).
