Prime lines

I have a Prusa mini.  Sometimes I want to print a model not in the Prusa library and I get an error from the printer concerning this.  A vast majority of the time the print fails at the start.  I slice the file in Prusa slicer 2.6.0  it does not add a prime line which I want to add.  Also, why and how do I fix the error on the file.  Need additional info let me know.  Thanks, Jeff

Note the current model I am trying to print is in the Prusa library.  Sitting baby Groot Waving.

Not sure I understand what that means. Prusa Library — do you mean downloaded from Printables.com? And if you download from another site, the printer complains how? What's the error? Just trying to get my head around  what the problem is you're seeing.

Fails as in won't even start? Or creates bad output?

If you use the default configuration for the printer it should add a prime line, which is in the default startup gcode that the slicer uses

The best way to help diagnose the issue is for you to load the model into Prusaslicer, then go to File->Save as and save the project as a 3mf file. Next, use your OS's compress tool (usually a right click on the 3mf file) to turn it into a .z file. Use the Attach File option here (under the edit box of your post) to upload the compressed file. Unfortunately the forum software will not accept the original 3mf file.

3mf files have all your configuration settings so we can check why the prime line is not getting created.

Yes from prinables.com, The first layer balls up.  The printer doesn't lay down filament as it starts the print to by the time it does there is nothing on the printer surface.  What default config should I be using?  That could be one of my issues.  Jeff

RE: Prime lines

Pictures of the issue would help us diagnose - but my money is on one or both of a dirty print sheet and a misconfigured first layer 'Z' offset.

I have no idea what your issue with printables.com is - other than the minute percentage of parts worth printing and the terrible search function and the regrettable number of untested, sometimes unprintable files and ... Sorry, I do go on.

Please give us a the project file you're trying to print as @fuchsr requested - there are an awful lot of Groots on printables.

Cheerio,

Ok here is some more info.  I clean the sheet with Isopropyl Alcohol pads before each print.  Before this next print I purged the filament to ensure a good and consistent flow of filament.  Also, ran a first layer check and it looked good.  I don’t know what is going on.  The warning I get is:  This gcode was set up for another printer type.  Why do I get this?  I sliced it with Prusa slicer and there is no prime line which I think may help.  Ideas?  Thanks for the help!  Jeff

RE: Prime lines

Look, this is clearly a wrong slicer setup and probably very easy to fix, but we need the zipped 3mf file or we're at the end of what we can do.

RE: Prime lines

I don't see anything attached. The forum software is quirky. Make sure the 3mf is compressed to a .z file or the software will silently reject it. Also, use the Attach file button below the edit box.

I hope we'll get to the bottom of this.

All I see is a .mov file attached to your post—not a .z file—, and a blank white small box when I click on it. No idea if that's a problem with the forum software that.I have not seen before.

I did post a short video clip.  But the file didn’t work for some reason.  I was able to figure out the slicer issue and it is now adding the prime line.   Currently printing one that I have been having the issue with.  So far 22% complete and it looks good.  This may be fixed.  Thanks, Jeff
