RE: Mini ship date poll

Not surprisingly, the orange minis are the more popular option by far. I wonder how this will affect the black option orders? With the demand for orange printed parts being significantly higher, I am hoping this might allow some black option orders to slip ahead of schedule? 🙂 Wishful thinking i know!

So little is printed I doubt that will occur. I think even with the Mk3 release black and orange didn't matter until much later in production. It's not like they dedicate colors 50/50.

Color did not seem to effect delivery rates or dates in the MK3s and it has more printed parts.

RE: Mini ship date poll

There was an interview at some point where they mentioned the print farm is tied into the ERP/inventory system. So it's not unreasonable to assume they have it set up to maintain some level of stock based on predictions which can change on the fly - if the orange parts are depleting rapidly while there are still sufficient black parts, the  farm would switch to solely printing orange parts to maintain the orange stock targets, and naturally this would happen before you run out so there is always supply.

It's time for some organization! Hereby a sheet that you can fill in to follow the orders 🙂

I entered mine today, and it's already 44 entries!

RE: Mini ship date poll

Using the last four digits of the order numbers, I have an observation:

Leading numbers of the last four digits per date (from the list):

  • 12/10/: 9, 0
  • 13/10/: 1, 2
  • 14/10/: 2, 3
  • 15/10/: 4
  • 16/10/: 5
  • 17/10/: 5

Is this a coincidence? I'm guessing one count is 10,000 orders (not all include a Mini though; some may include more than one Mini, others may be spares or filament only, and contain no printer whatsoever). If that is the case, the Mini publication weekend and following Monday were definitely prime time chez maison Prusa.

RE: Mini ship date poll

12/10/ includes a whole 10.000;
the next 10.000 were completed on 13/10/ with the third 10.000 started,
and completed on Monday plus another 10k completed on the same day.
Tuesday, 15/10/ only saw one 10k batch completed.

If that theory is right, the first weekend certainly is a huge amount of orders! And to continue the speculation: the road to 100,000 printers was completed early this year (going from 2012 to 2019). Somewhere in the Mini introduction, Josef mentions that his company has sold 150,000 printers already (October 2019). Will he crack 200,000 this year?

Mind you, my speculation above is based on only 30 data points in the first six days recorded today in the linked list...

If you check youtube videos from various creators that were present at ERRF, with each and every entry Josef mentions higher and higher number 🙂 Highest I caught was IIRC 1700 and God knows which day it was filmed? Another number was from ~20 days ago from this thread: https://www.reddit.com/r/prusa3d/comments/driqr3/miniature_printed_with_025_mm_on_the_original/ Mikolas mentions 6-7k orders backlog. I haven't caught any more or less concrete numbers since. Could be 200 more, could be 10k additional MINIs to be dispatched. Looks like it may be successful product.

Interesting to see what people have ordered and it will be interesting to see if it follows order numbers or not.

Seriously counting down the days, I want this printer so bad!!!

Respect the fact everyone is entitled to have an opinion, you dont have to like it or hate it, just accept its theirs and not yours and you will be ok!

Sunday morning before ERRF opened the second day they had said they hit 1000 Minis. The 1700 was probably sometime Sunday.

I hope you don't mind... numbers were getting lost because 4 digits are not enough. I added a 5th digit and inferred the 5th digit for the existing entries.

Your numbers are off... Day 1 was roughly 1000 units. I talked to them myself before ERRF opened on Day 2. At this point they have probably sold near 15K units based on the 6-7k mark posted by an employee.

The order tracking sheet seems to back this all up.

Yes, the order numbers get generated for all orders, not only MINIs.

True, factor 10. Yet, I'm still impressed by the numbers.

@dennis, phr0ze, 5 digits are an improvement; 58 entries now too!

I am not sure about the numbers but there are a lot of orders from Day1 to Day 2.  I suspect they're a lot of orders that did not order a mini.
