Mental Exercise: Could I convert an Ender-3 into an Mk3S Clone?

Guys,

I have a hunk of junk sitting in an enclosure that ha snot printed in weeks.  I have found using it to be a challenge.  I am considering a project to convert it into an MK3s.  Could I use the frame to do so?

One of my surprise lessons from working with my Sidewinder is that, although they're not fantastic printers, some of the cheaper printers do provide a good foundation that you can build on. I've been comparing some major tasks like extruder + hotend upgrades between the Mk3 and Sidewinder, and they'd definitely be easier on the Sidewinder.

Prusas are ideal if you want a printer that works as you want it to on day one. The cheaper frames are good if you want to use them to build a printer that works as you want it to. I don't have an Ender to compare to, but how rigid is the frame?

It is fairly rigid.
