Impressions of Prusa Mini & Extrusion issues
I have had my Prusa mini for a few months now and I could not be happier. The quality is way better than my mk2.5s - is is a nice bit of kit. I did read a number of people were having extruder clicking issues or issues with extrusion in general.
After reading everyone's experience with this, the first thing I checked when I received mine was to ensure that that filament path did not offer any resistance (lesson learnt from the MMU2S). I undid the tensioner screw under the extruder motor and sadly I found that feeding filament was pretty stiff. The fittings that Prusa chose to use on the bowden tube, in my opinion, make sense as the pneumatic push-in fittings used on all their other printers, after a while one could not remove the PTFE tube as it got worn in. The only drawback with the compression fittings, is that they have to pinch the PTFE to hold it. Mine was pinching a bit more than it should, I used a 2mm drill and dressed both ends of the bowden tube as the tube is a 2mm ID. I also checked the PTFE tube leading into the extruder motor, it also needed a bit of cleaning - after doing this , I have had zero extrusion issues. If anyone is having extruders clicking or general extrusion issues, I'd suggest checking the feed path first. I hope this helps others.
