Horizontal banding - ideas please

Hello everyone,

Both my Minis have probably got 250 hours plus on them now and are turning out parts reliably using 4.0.1 and PLA, PETG and Flex.

Just noted an odd effect on one that isn't present on the other...

Sample on the left is the first printer and looks fine, middle and right is the same gcode printed on the second printer.

Closeup of the two parts in question - any ideas ?

I think this has changed slowly over time but I've been production printing very small parts with low Z heights and it hasn't been apparent.

Any help gratefully received.

Richard

I would start looking at: Dirt in the extruder drive gear, too low spring pressure on gear drive, inconstant filament thickness or a clogged nozzle.

Have a look at my models on Printables.com 😉

I had something similar, but much worse. Turned out the 2 grub screws holding on the Y belt gear to the motor was completely loose. Double-check all of the screws on your Mini to make sure they are snug.

@asdf-tgz

I just checked my Mini Y-axe motor gear grub screws and yes one of them was loose too. The other screw was OK.

Now I want to check the grub screws on the X-axe - do I have to disassemble the hole X-Y axis to get to the gear?

Have a look at my models on Printables.com 😉

Morning all,

Quick update - working with Tech Support and swapping parts from printer A to printer B - they still think its hotend or possibly control board.

@asdf-tgz

Thank you.
Very easy to check - just confirmed that both grub screws where tight.

Nice design detail by PR.

Hey @richard__h

I know this thread is old, but did you ever resolve your issues with your Mini banding?  I'm having very similar issues with my new Mini and can't find a solution anywhere.
