Filament change from high temperature filament to lower temperature filament

I am just wondering, about the best way to change filament from e.g. ASA (260° C) to PLA (215°C).

How will I get rid of the remnants of ASA in the nozzle when I chose PLA as type for the new filament?

I didn't find a hint in the manual or help section.

You don't do that.  You set the temperatures to the ASA temperature and load in PLA.  Then when you load and it asks you if it loaded successfully you choose NO.  Do that about 10-20 times.  That will purge the ASA. Then you lower the temp to PLA temps.  After that I usually will then do another couple of load cycles at the actual PLA temperature to make sure that its still feeding correctly.  You want to make sure its all gone otherwise you are asking for trouble later.  Better to spend a few minutes before printing rather than having a clog halfway through a multi hour print and having to redo it all.

You can do all this without the heat bed on if you want just by setting the extruder temp manually though the LCD and getting it to temperature before choosing load in the menu.

You definitely don't want to try to run PLA through the hotend at PLA temperature after using ASA or other high-temp filaments. Sure recipe for a clog.

Do what Neophyl suggested, load it at the higher temperature and purge a lot. Or search Amazon for "cleaning filament", which is what I use. 4 or 5 purges—at ASA temperature—, and you're all set.

Thanks, guys! I didn't think about purging so much.

Appreciate it!

It’s what I use a lot if my roll ends on, just purge using those. That way you can load the one you want on the last couple and you are good to go.
