A Newbies Progress !!

Well i'm a 3D printing newbie and bought a Mini for some fun.

Had it a few days now and have spent the last 2 'dailing it in'

Had the 'under extruding' issue, but you guys helped a lot and i think i've fixed it now.

The firmware is a bit 'glitchy', still cant switch filament mid print ?

But otherwise i'm very happy with my new toy 😀

Nice results! I'm still wrestling with myself as to when to order. I think a Mini is inevitable.

@steve-4, glad to hear you finally have your mini performing well. The mini will be my first 3D printer as well. I didn’t order till Nov 4th so I likely won’t receive it till late Jan early Feb.

Have you had the opportunity to try filaments other than PLA? If so, how are they printing? Also, some seem to have issues getting prints to stick to the textured sheet. Have you tried it and what were your results?

Yes, the red nut and galaxy black 'Red October' are prusament (came with the printer).

The U-boat conning tower and nose section are Anycubic PLA (of Amazon) and print well.

I have got the textured sheet aswell, but not tried it yet.

I spent much of last year looking for a small printer, and nearly pulled the trigger on a Monoprice Select Mini Pro more than once at $200. Now the MPSM is $160 and the Kingroon is very tempting at $150. Then I watch a video of the print quality and wonder why I bother. The wait is annoying but well worth it if my Mk3 experience is anything to go by! Glad you guys are working out all the kinks for me in the meantime.

Went similar route. Got a used MPSM v2 for $50. Replaced the Z axis with T8 and put a new SKR v1.3 board with TMC2208 drivers. Put a silent Noctua fan on the extruder. The magnetic sheet is also added. Now I have a pretty nice, little, silent printer. It was a really enjoyable build.

I am not a newbie but I have to say, after dealing with the now famous under extrusion problem, this little mini is blowing me away.  The quality of the prints are better than my mk3s can currently do.   It is very very impressive.

I am still wary of it after the under extrusion issue and the filament being chewed up all over the place as a result but it is currently doing beautiful work and it is my first choice of the four printers I have.

If you didn't order until Nov 4th I'd expect delivery to be end Feb/early March, however it's now difficult to estimate better as Prusa aren't produced an actual shipping 'table' any more.
