PCCF Nozzle Cleaning (XL)

I'm an industrial customer and I use a lot of Prusament PC-CF Brand new filament, stored in a dryer.

I always see oozing.

The nozzle cleaning nearly always fails because of the oozed filament.

The bed leveling is also badly affected by it leading to poor first layers. As well as leaving a grid of dots made of PC which make future bed levelling less accurate as it's so hard to clean off.

It seems off to me that filament is fully loaded during the bed levelling in the first place.

The order seems off.

Nozzle tip should hot and empty during cleaning and levelling.

Then purge and clean at the front edge of the bed

Start Print.

If anyone has any tips, I'd appreciate.

RE: PCCF Nozzle Cleaning (XL)

I have this a lot with TPU en when I do an incidental 2 color print. Installing a nozzle cleaner mod helped a lot. I have a core one but for the XL its should be more or less the same.

Example, there are many more https://www.printables.com/model/1165279-prusa-xl-nozzle-wiper.

I put the Gcode just before the regular nozzle cleaning code, so it does both.

That reads like damp filament. For how long are you drying the filament before printing?

What size nozzles are you using?

Cheerio,

PC and PC-CF are very hygroscopic. After drying for 8hrs I transfer to a dry box and print from the box. After 1-2 weeks of storing it I will dry it again. Also never assume a brand new roll from a vacuum sealed bag is printable. Here is an example: Prusament PC-CF removed from a factory sealed bag and immediately printed (left). The filament was manufactured 3 months before the print. On the right after drying at 85° for 8 hrs.

I dry TPU, PC and PA and with TPU very well and print from a drybox and I still have some oozing. Also after a color change even after cleaning the nozzle pops out a bit of filament before resuming.

For critical things I sit in front of the printer with the brass brush to clean the nozzle before it goes down to resume the print so I understand the frustration.
