Prusa Mk4/Mk4s dual extrusion mod.
I had the idea for this and am currently researching its feasibility. the current idea is to produce a replacement heatsink that has a second nozzle to the right allowing for a curved filament path out before running into the main extruder. filament would be driven via a bowden tube from a stepper mounted on the frame. therefore the direct driven one could be responsible for any difficult filaments such as TPU but the secondary could still print other standard filaments such as pla. i am hopping this could be a low impact modification that wouldn't significantly change any aspects of the printer.
my current road block is the inbuilt load cell on the heatsink and as this would require a modified reproduction I need to implement this into the modified version. I have no prior experience with load cells and strain gauges so I am looking for some advice. firstly does anyone know what exactly an unmodified mk4 has under the white glue so i could reproduce this. And if i knew this would it even be possible or what would be required for me to reproduce myself. If there is any other issues with this projects feasibility or method i would be happy to receive any advice you have.
RE: Prusa Mk4/Mk4s dual extrusion mod.
also is there a accurate cad model of the heatsink, the one I have doesn't have the threads.
RE:
I would love to see that in supproting PLA via PETG through second extruder, or vice versa... i would bought one but i will do one of this extruder compatible with MMU and the second standalone... or compatible with second MMU 🙂 hanged over MK's frame near this first one (there is a place to set two of them). Ten filaments, two MMU, one dual extruder... damn I'm preparing my shelv to have more place for filamens 😉
