Input Shaper - ABS/PC warping

Hi,

I would like to know why for example Prusa has some Input Shaper profiles for ABS/ASA or PC which normally would make no sense. It's very difficult to get good results wie PC filament for example with standard profiles. With Input Shaper you get much more warping. So what's the sense?

Best regards,
Raul

RE: Input Shaper - ABS/PC warping

Warping is related to the type of filament, the geometry of the model, the bed and ambient temperature and print settings like infill, number of perimeters, etc. It has nothing to do with input shaping. You get as much ( or as little ) warping printing with or without input shaping.

On the other side Prusa profiles are just a guide ( sometimes not very accurate or realistic ).  You don't have to use those profiles as if they were the ultimate truth. After printing for sometime, I figured out the speeds and other parameters that suited best my printing flow and I never used the standard profiles again.

Besides, I have the strong suspicion the lately Prusa releases new profiles with the sole purpose of increasing the sales of  newer printers or kits. We want to sell MK4S update kits to current MK4 owners, so let's release MK4S profiles with higher speed settings. This way it will seem that you can print faster with the new hardware, and the same applies to the so called high flow nozzles.

OK,but let's be honest. Nobody will print wir PC Filament a small 5x5 mm round cube. If you print a part for a 3d printer or something big you will definitely get warping also with standard profile. So again what is than the sense of input shaper profiles for this kind of material.

@artur5 would you be so kind and share your profile changes for PC? I print a lot with PC and wouldn't mind looking at your values

thanks and kind regards

I wish to find some help with tuning profile for ASA printing on MK4S. I've applied 8mm brimm and draft shield skirt for the whole model, but corners are still lifting even on textured steel sheet. I've tried also to print that satin sheet but I couldn't get good adhesion to bed and print failed even before first layer was completed.
