Basic multi-colour on non-aligned layers? Gridfinity.

Hi Everyone, hopefully the Crowd will make up for my total inability to get to grips with CAD! I have modified a lovely little Gridfinity module found online. These are to hold small tools in a drawer.

I have an Original Prusa i3 MK3S+ so there is no inbuilt multi-colour option, but I have managed to do the trick where you pause the print, change the colour, and then continue. You can see a pic of one such successful print I created - the very top rim, about 3 layers, is a different colour.

I want to print some other similar boxes, in cream/white. These are filled, with shaped slots for small tools. I created a single-colour print of this. But in addition to the top layers in a contrasting colour, I also want to outline the tooling slots in a different colour.

However, those layers are not in the same vertical height as the top edge. I can't work out how, or if possible, to do this. If I simply pause the print at the layer height of the tool outlines, then it will likely also print the same colour right at the edges of the box body, which is not what is wanted.

My question: is there a way within Fusion 360, or Prusa Slicer, etc, to demand the machine only to print those features (the tooling outlines) in a separate process, and then go back and continue the other areas as normal?

Please see the pics, hopefully they show better than I can describe here. The first pic shows what I want to achieve – blue and orange lines as different colours filament, but they are not the same vertical height as each other. I also show a screenshot of my Fusion file. I can upload the 3d file if helpful.

THANK YOU!

Jay
