X-Axis Bearing Chatter
Hello All,
I've been using my MK4S for about 3 months now and finally decided to try and get some help with the X-Axis chatter I've been experiencing on my printer. As shown in the attached video, I have a very loud chattering/rattling/grinding noise, seemingly from the X axis bearings during travel. I tried fixing the issue with the electrical tape mod shown in previous forum posts, and that helped for a little bit, but the noise came back after about a month of that mod in place. I tried putting some more lubricant into the bearings by using the included grease and putting it on the rods as the printer was operating, and that helped temporarily, but after a few minutes the sound got even louder. I'm not sure if the bearing is broken, if this is the same issue as the other x-axis issues, or if its some other issue that I'm unaware of, but it is incredibly annoying and making it difficult to be in the same room while the printer is running.
Here's some technical info about the printer, in case it is an issue with certain printer batches:
- MK4 kit purchased May 23, 2024
- Mk4S kit purchased August 13,2024
- MK4 kit included pre-lubricated bearings
- Using re-printed X-Axis holders and Z-Axis tops in Prusament Chalky Blue PETG
I also have seemingly unrelated print issues that will be addressed in a separate post, but just in case this combination of factors is indicative of some larger issue,I'll link the other post here with the topic name Cubic and Grid infill print failures. Thank you all in advance for the assistance
