USB-C no power

Hi,

I dont have any power from the USB-C at the back of the printer. Does it need to be enabled  somewhere? I dont want to transfer any data, just power an accessory.

Cheers

There is no power on that connector. I checked this on my MK4 with a USB power meter some time ago. This connector is just for feeding data in for serial printing with e.g. OctoPrint.
You should get some step-down module and connect it to the printer's PSU. There are some mods for that: https://www.printables.com/search/models?ctx=models&q=mk4+usb+power

Ok, thanks. I thought it was supposed to also feed the camera...

Good, I'll find another way. Thanks for the tip to mods!

Power in the USB connector can also be a problem with backpowering, like on many Creality printers. Better not to have that.

I've looked into this (planning upgrading my MK4S to CORE One eventually) and the camera for the CORE One gets USB-C power from a second board mounted next to the xBuddy board. Our MK4(S) printers don't have that extra board, and I don't see it available as a CORE One spare part on Prusa's web store yet.

The USB-C connector on the xBuddy appears to be USB device only with no USB-PD bidirectional capacity. The USB-C connector on the extra board appears to be power out (5V) only for now. I recall seeing a note on one picture showing the ports that indicates that there may be data on that connector in the future, but I don't know if it will be device only (like on the xBuddy) or host (like on your computer). I'm still trying to find a schematic for that extra board so I can look up the capabilities of the chips on it.
