Problem purging / loading to extruder

Video of issue

Hi all, looking for some help.

When I try to purge I’ve got clicking noises which you’ll see in the video. The extruder is clear. I’ve pulled it apart and checked the “feeding” gears. No damage or blockage. I’ve tightened and loosened the screws up top. No change. I’m assuming that the filament isn’t being grabbed and directed into the extruder correctly (the sound is like it’s missing the grip). I went and unlubed the gears (I went a bit heavy another time) in case that was the case. No luck.

I’ve chatted with support but it’s such an arduous process via chat I thought I’d see if anyone in the forums had an idea before I ventured back to the line by line process.

RE: Problem purging / loading to extruder

It looks like your hotend is blocked. Suggestions:

  • if you by chance have another Prusa nozzle (or V6 adapter) - switch to that and try loading again; if that works - we know the nozzle is clogged
  • if not, try to heat-up your hotend and unclog the nozzle using a needle (from the bottom) - but you need to have a needle
  • you can also try loading a filament (as much as this is possible) and do a cold-pull - but I'm not an optimist here... (probably newly inserted filament won't join existing filament in hotend strong enough)

this is the mk4S so properly the new highflow nozzel, 4 channels inside this nozzel so u have to check not only one hole, there are 4

but i see this is a MMU Setup its recommend to change to normal nozzel, so there should be spare to check this

RE: Problem purging / loading to extruder

Right... If this is new nozzle it is completely unlikely it is clogged. The only thing that comes to my mind is the temperature then - that plastic inside is not melted (or melted enough). If by any chance you have a non-contact infrared thermometer (or contact one - like meat thermometer?) you could verify the temp shown by printer vs the real one.
