Obsidian hardened nozzle - leave or change?
I'd like to tap into the community experience: I have bought a 0.4 prusa HF hardened nozzle to print PCCF and a few other "aggressive" filament. Is there a reason to switch back to the normal bronze HF once done or, as I suspect, once can keep happily chugging along with the hardened one for all materials? both same diameter, both hf...
Many thanks in advance for sharing your thoughts.
RE: Obsidian hardened nozzle - leave or change?
My understanding is that it should not matter.
Personally, I swap nozzles to prevent problems with material mixing. But I do only pla&petg.
RE: Obsidian hardened nozzle - leave or change?
I don't have lots of experience with it, but I have 1 head on my XL with an Obxidian nozzle that I have been using primarily for PCCF, but have on occasion used it for silk PLA and it printed just fine. I didn't change any of my normal settings that I would use on a brass nozzle.
RE: Obsidian hardened nozzle - leave or change?
I don't see the need to change. I would think you can address material mixing purging, plus, by not changing the nozzle, you eliminate a change to your system.
I'm all for steady-state operations. Change as few things as possible.
RE: Obsidian hardened nozzle - leave or change?
I use Obxidian on all my printers--with the exception of a lonely Mk3.5S that has tungsten carbide nozzles--and use them for everything. In my hands they never required any adjustments to print profiles. They work just like brass but I don't have to worry about what nozzle is in for whatever material I want to print.
