MMU + High flow nozzle question.

I recently upgraded to a mk4s and was sad to see that the high flow nozzle is not recommended for those using a MMU3. Something to do with wasting filament without much benefit (I did not fully understand). Is there a way to gain the benefits of high flow nozzle and bypass the downsides? I am hoping some type of firmware update might address this?

RE: MMU + High flow nozzle question.

The HF nozzle by its design excludes good shaping of the filament tip when changing it with MMU3. During the ramming movements during material change, the nozzle temperature decreases and blockage of one of the channels inside the nozzle is not excluded. Therefore, it is not recommended for MMU. After all, just take a close look and watch what tricks the extruder does with the filament during the replacement and you will lose the desire to use the HF nozzle together with the MMU3.

RE: MMU + High flow nozzle question.

I have a MMU3 still in its box ready to be build for my MK4s.

Personally I haven't seen much benefit from a HF nozzle anyways, so I'll happily go back to a standard nozzle when I bolt on the MMU3.

RE: MMU + High flow nozzle question.

Im using HF nozzle with MMU3 without a problem. It has larger purge volume, but not so much. No problem so far. I also tried to switch to regular nozzle. I only noticed, that in some cases purge volume in regular nozzle is too low (mainly for contrast colors). With HF I didnt noticed any color bleeding into another so far. So in the end Im more happy with HF nozzle.

But I print only for personal use, so it is very very subjective.

Main benefit of HF nozzle is when you use 0,25 mm layer. Otherwise you wont see any benefit or very small one.

This is interesting - thanks for this. First person to confirm that the HF nozzle is working with their MMU3 setup ok.

After seeing the amount of wastage filament from my BambuLab A1 filament color changes, I'm sure even the Prusa HF nozzle will seem much less, although as I said above, I have no problem going back to a standard nozzle regardless......

There is official profile for MMU3 HF. Its not that you have to figure that out. Im using that without problems. Of course that doesnt mean everybody are happy with that config.
