MK4S doesn't recognize firmware update on USB drive
Hello,
Trying to update firmware. Power cycling or front panel reset doesn't work. It ignores the file on the USB drive. What am I missing?
RE: MK4S doesn't recognize firmware update on USB drive
It probably already got the latest firmware version installed. It should say which firmware it is currently running during the boot process under the loading bar. (It is also somewhere in the menus, but I'm not exactly sure where.)
RE: MK4S doesn't recognize firmware update on USB drive
It shows the bootloader for most of the bootup, the firmware the last second or two. Info, Version info menu will list the firmware installed.
Also the update will not happen if there are 2 or more .bbf files on the USB drive. Only 1 firmware file should be on the USB.
RE: MK4S doesn't recognize firmware update on USB drive
Only the most recent .bbf file should be in the root directory of the USB drive. Other firmware files can be stored in a subdirectory (e.g. /old_firmware) and the printer will ignore them on boot. If you want to go back to an earlier firmware version, you move the desired file into the root directory, move all other .bbf files into the subdirectory and use the special key sequence (on boot double press the knob) to revert to the earlier firmware version.
