0,8 mm Nozzle - failed to print

Hello Prusa fans,I have an MK4S and currently have a 0.8 nozzle installed, as I have to print a few kilos for a shelf, it's faster this way, but I always have to make sure that the MK4A prints the last beta software correctly at every start... Take a look at the picture... Any ideas on how to prevent this?It is set to 0.8 in the printer - the slicer 2.9 has also selected the 0.8 printer.

RE: 0,8 mm Nozzle - failed to print

1. the tip of the nozzle is not perfectly straight, so when measuring before the first layer, the table measures incorrectly. 2. The two side screws may be loose and the nozzle may be loose

What layer thickness are you trying to print?

Looks like the 1st layer it too high.  Try lowering the nozzle at startup by pressing and holding the control knob for a few seconds then it starts to purge.  That will bring up live Z and you can lower the nozzle.

0.4mm is the first layer. It's just weird because it fits 50% and then again not. It's a good idea to see what the Z height is at the start. Thanks. I'll test it later.

I've not used a .8 nozzle before, however I've found it's still good practice to leave the 1st layer at .2mm to help with bed adhesion even when printing thicker layers.  The . 2mm 1st layer seems to put a better squish on that first layer to push the filament into the bed.

I'm pretty sure that's why there's the option in the slicer for a different 1st layer thickness.

I have seen in some cases where that 1st layer thickness is actually thicker to compensate for inconsistencies in bed flatness, but that's printed much slower and usually a different material than the actual print like HIPS or something as that 1st layer will not look very good.  It's usually for a raft.

Keep us posted.
