RE: Whose upgrading to Core One?

Like many here I've recently installed the Mk4S upgrade, and am in no direct need of upgrading right away.  I suspect that If this printer had been launched at the same time as the Mk4, we all would have chosen the Core One instead.  That's not at all to say I'm disappointed with the MK4(s). I am thrilled (shocked) that they went well out do their way to provide an upgrade path to the Core One, and I look forward to doing the conversion at some point.  Seeing how all (or most) of the electronics will be carried over, I expect it should run really well out of the gate.  The nextruser was brand new with the Mk4/XL launches.  It is well established now and profiles shouldn't be far off of those printers either.  With my limited needs, I have no reason to rush to upgrade other than the convenience of the enclosure and ability to add a few material choices.  I plan to wait until initial orders get caught up on the conversion kit before ordering.  I think this is going to be a perfect combination of features and simplicity.

  • With that price I can purchase now the Bambulab X1C+AMS combo (1.049€) and I would still have money.

But the X1 with AMS costs €1249

I’m wondering how the MK4(non-S) to Core 1 conversion would work… do I really need to buy both upgrades separately? I’ve been holding off on the S upgrade because I don’t really need the NFC/etc and $100 seems a lot for a somewhat better nozzle and a bigger part fan(I already have a self-printed 360 adapter for the existing MK4 fan), but not sure how much the other things are needed here.

I also had a different air duct on my MK4. But you can't compare that with the new fan.

You bet that six months after the Core One starts shipping, the Core One-S will be announced in order to fix missing features and poorly designed parts on the original printer.  Then the Core One S+ and so on...

Other manufacturers also do this during a model cycleBambulab has also improved parts of the X1C and AMS. It's just that you shouldn't find out about it and certainly not have the opportunity to upgrade.

@rainer-2  Normally, but we are in the Black Friday week and there is a huge discount on the combo and they sell it at 1.049€.
But again, I am against closed source, and especially Filament DRM  (yes, X1C and its companions have DRM on filament usage as the Inkjet printers 🙄  Till now it has not been activated by Bambulab, but in the future..  who knows.... 😑 )
So am am very reluctant to purchase the combo. And I don't like the fact that the Prusa One Kit will we available later in spring 2025.

When I look at the current page. X1C 1049 X1C+AMS 1249

Add the printer to the shopping cart. Then the price for the X1CmitAMS will change

RE: Whose upgrading to Core One?

Just upgraded my MK4 to the S variant, of course I'll buy the MK4S to Core One kit. I planned on buying the enclosure at $349 so upgrading to Core One for $449 only makes sense and is a better overall value.

I love how Prusa is committed to giving us an upgrade path, where it makes sense. I firmly believe that the Core One is the entry-level CoreXY printer for new 3D print users and current users looking to upgrade. I expect to see at least one more CoreXY between the Core One and the XL that is an enclosed, two print head took changer, 270 x 270 x 270, high flow/hardened nozzle printer with a heated chamber.

Ja to nawet bym się skusił na taką aktualizację, ale jakby był program odkupu pozostałych części po starej drukarce. To byłoby zagranie fair play wobec użytkowników i środowiska...

RE:

Just finished building a MK4S to complement our 5T XL, but will probably get the Core One kit in May.
Not the MK4S -> Core One upgrade kit, though; the money savings isn't worth the extra hassle of tearing down the MK4S.
We'll find space for the Core One and probably never regret have three filament printers (and two resin -- Elegoo Saturn 4 Ultras).

RE: Whose upgrading to Core One?

I did not order the MK3 to the MK4 upgrade and took the MK4 instead (now having an unused MK3). The reason was mainly that most of the core parts of the MK3 (extruder, servo motor, controller board) where not used anymore and would be in my shelf without any chance to be needed. With the MK4 to the Core One you should have a reuse of nearly everything of the MK4S. I think just some plastic parts and the frame will be obsolete.
I do not think that the Core One will have significant better prints or significant faster than my MK4S. But looks good and I will probably upgrade.

Yeah, it looks good, and Prusa says the Core One will be faster, IIRC from the video.
And the temperature-controlled build volume will allow printing of materials that aren't practical on a MK4S.
Also the Core One doesn't sling the print around, which is probably advantageous on tall slim prints.
And finally, the Core One has a smaller footprint than the MK4S.

RE: Whose upgrading to Core One?

Bambu Lab will be announcing a new printer in early 2025. You could get that one, or wait till Prusa lets you upgrade to one like it in 2027 with the Core One upgrade kit.
