RE: Whose upgrading to Core One?
Sadly I think I will. It wont be optional, if you want to keep up to date in future. I think they will discontinue the support für the i3 models and support the new plattform in future.
RE: Whose upgrading to Core One?
I am anxiously waiting to order the Prusa MK4S to CORE One conversion kit.
I wonder how long the wait will be for day 1 orders. 😉
RE: Whose upgrading to Core One?
The upgrade kit said to anticipate March for orders to begin shipping. Soooooo, I'm planning on day 1 orders actually shipping late April.
I am pro-prusa, and not one to complain, but I wonder if the MK4 just shouldn't have happened. The Core One is obviously a response to the X1C. The Mk4 can't compete, in my opinion, to the Bambu A1 at $299.

RE: Whose upgrading to Core One?
Today I was looking on the BambuLab site for the Black Friday offers because I wanted a CoreXY closed printer, and bang! suddenly I saw the Core One announcement.
Now Prusa finally has a boxed CoreXY printer 😀
But as old Prusa owner I have big doubts if it is the case to purchase the CORE One:
- It cost 1.349€ assembled. This is the only option to order now. May be the kit will be available to order from March 2025.
- With that price I can purchase now the Bambulab X1C+AMS combo (1.049€) and I would still have money.
- As usual, I would pay now to receive nothing until January 2025 (that could shift to February, March, or even April, depending on the order time).
- I should put into account that something can go wrong, how it happened for the MK4 with issues on the LCD display, wi-fi file transfer errors and gcode corruptions (never really solved), and so be ready to spend lot of time troubleshooting the new CoreXY machine.
- The core hardware seems the same: Buddy Board, Nextruder, Wi-fi. Currently there is no webcam, nor air filtering, so forget ABS printing for now.
- I understood that is not clipper based, but it will be the same PRUSA version used on the XL.
- They say it will work even with PLA, but I am not sure what will happen during hot summer here with just at 33°C in the room: will I have 50°C in the printer ? 🙄
So, I am unsure on what to do. I am not a farm, and I have an MK4S, an MK3.5+MMU3, an FLSUN V400, so I do not need really another fast printer now.
- May be better to stay with the MK4S and wait until the CORE One is mature, and see also if it presents issues.
- Take the risk, invest the money and wait several months waiting for the printer.
- Get the chance of the time limited Bambulab Black Friday offer and take the X1C+AMS combo, and compare how this printer really works compared to the MK4S.
I don't know.... 🤔

Did you watch the whole release video or read the release on the blog? It says that the Filtration system and camera will be released when the units start shipping.
It also shows exactly how you can print PLA with the enclosure both in the release literature and the video
I've got over a thousand hours on my MK4 and have experienced none of the issues you mention to provide another point of view.
RE: Whose upgrading to Core One?
I’m wondering how the MK4(non-S) to Core 1 conversion would work… do I really need to buy both upgrades separately? I’ve been holding off on the S upgrade because I don’t really need the NFC/etc and $100 seems a lot for a somewhat better nozzle and a bigger part fan(I already have a self-printed 360 adapter for the existing MK4 fan), but not sure how much the other things are needed here.
RE: Whose upgrading to Core One?
It feels like I just finished upgrading my Mk4 to MK4S a few months ago, but I'm in as well for the Core One upgrade.. take my money!

Yep, I'm in the same Benchy.
RE: Whose upgrading to Core One?
For the first I'll stick with the MK4s. Maybe in 2026 I will consider. Just now I'm very satisfied with the MK4 and I doubt that the XY-Table will bring advantages for my usual pinter jobs (smal objects).
And: I'm a bit frustrated with Prusa announcement, payment and shipping policy. If I order and pay now there is a very high chance to receive the printer sometime in somer /leave 2025. Just tired to wait.
RE: Whose upgrading to Core One?
I will, space is a big consideration and I am looking at PCCF and other high heat printing. A much cleaner process than building heat handling into the enclosure. And Josef Prusa mentioned this would be the base for upgrades for a decade. In the conference interview... Hopefully the upgrade kits wont take too long.
RE: Whose upgrading to Core One?
For sure I will buy a conversion kit for my MK4S. As I understand the "new platform" it should be very easy to bring a "single tool head only" Core One XL to market. Just produce a bigger frame and reuse XL heatbed and printsheets. Maybe it would require an active chamber heating because of the bigger volume. Or just a skeleton printer without panels. I'm excited to find out what developments are still to come.

Our friend Joe really knows how to take money from his trusting customer base.
Buy first the MK3S+ to MK4 upgrade. You can’t live without automatic Z calibration !.
One year later here it comes the Mk4S. Of course it’s compulsory to have it, because of the amazing new fan. Now the Core One. At last a Core XY !. Wonderful folks, preorder fast or you’ll wait forever before getting it.
You bet that six months after the Core One starts shipping, the Core One-S will be announced in order to fix missing features and poorly designed parts on the original printer. Then the Core One S+ and so on...
RE: Whose upgrading to Core One?
I have only just bought the MK4S (kit) and very happy.
I was eyeing the enclosure but find it big. Now the upcoming upgrade to Core1 seems a no brainer.
Sure we can send less money to the Far East, but it would not feel right. Here we have open source, support our economy can get parts and know we will be supported for many years to come. I rather buy less other crap and save for something worthy.like this. 😉

You would rather they just not ever update/improve anything? Nobody is forcing you to buy any given upgrade and the vast majority of other companies would require you to buy a whole new unit, rather than selling far cheaper upgrade kits.
RE: Whose upgrading to Core One?
I will most likely pick up the MK4S>CO conversion kit........just so I can make more videos!!
--> MK4 - MK4S - MINI+ - MMU3 - Accelerometer Guide - BambuLab A1 Combo <--
RE: Whose upgrading to Core One?
I hope so, your videos were super helpful!

** I had missed that part 😶I've got over a thousand hours on my MK4 and have experienced none of the issues you mention to provide another point of view.
** I was also in the group of people that never experienced LCD issues, but the forum is full of less lucky people, and for g-code corruption, I had only few checksum errors on mine, and never the big corruption many others had. 😅
I am very compulsive on purchasing, but till now I have not yet taken a decision.
