“Prusa HT Hotend upgrade only for the Core Series — very disappointing.
Hello,
i would like to ask why Prusa is not offering the new 400 °C hotend for the MK4S.Users have been waiting a long time for this upgrade—especially those who already bought the official Prusa enclosure for the MK4—and are now feeling somewhat “let down” by the situation. Clear communication would be greatly appreciated so customers can better understand the reasoning behind this decision and what to expect in the future.

MK4S is the same nextruder. Is it power cable difference? Maybe the default PETG parts on the MK4S worries them. Core One is PC-CF or similar I believe. My nextruder has been updated to all PC-CF parts currently. Many other parts are now ASA or better also.
Hopefully there is an upgrade of some sort. With the enclosure the MK4S would be a great candidate for the 400C nozzle. When many of the PETG parts are update for higher heat material.

It’s actually a software issue, since—as you already said—the hardware is the same. So why don’t they deliver it, which in my eyes used to be a typical Prusa standard? Well, their focus is clearly on selling and developing the Core One, their current flagship device. From a business perspective, that’s understandable. Unfortunately, the i3 will fall further and further behind. But well, technology moves forward.
However, since the Core One’s hardware is based about 70% on the i3 MK4—let’s say—and the mainboard is the same, it really shouldn’t be a big effort. But do they actually still want to sell the i3? Rather unlikely. That’s why I didn’t upgrade to the Core One: I don’t see why I should invest the same amount of money into the Core One again as I’ve already invested in the MK3/MK4 overall.
There are already software forks that can do this, of course. But I know that Prusa makes good quality, which is exactly why I’m so disappointed at the moment.
