Print head strangely shifted right
While printing this known duck, the head started printing as it should, then it shifted right ~30mm, continue as if normal.
I just switched to Prusa slicer 2.9.3
What could cause this?
previous print (smaller version of this duck) went well.
The steep overhang at the front is likely to warp upwards, combine that with the probable poor adhesion to the dirty print-sheet and the chance of a head crash is high.
Cheerio,
RE: Print head strangely shifted right
I get these shifts ALL the time on my Mk4S machines (4 had since launch 4 were upgrades ) and I have 8 of them . I stopped trying to contact support because there’s never a solid answer . It’s everything from belt tension, infill settings , filament type , calibration etc… nothing has ever resolved it . It’s same as you show here an awkward shift to the right .
RE: Print head strangely shifted right
It is the 2nd time for me, so I paid attention. I think it is a bug in the MK4 firmware because the gcode is correct and printing well mostly. Something makes the head shift at a certain moment, and remains shifted until the end. Luckily (for me) it doesn't occur much. I hope Prusa will pay attention to this.

I don't think so. the base of the print is exactly where it should be, while the remaining (higher layers) shifted to the right, and kept being shifted.

Cheerio,
The base stays where it is — the overhang warps upwards and perhaps partially detaches — the print head crashes into the top of the warp and fails to complete its move — the print head continues as if it had completed the previous move but now it's out of position.

That sounds like a classic layer shift, often caused by a loose belt or a sudden jerk during printing. Check the tension on your X-axis belt and make sure nothing is obstructing the print head's movement.

Sorry for the late comment.
This is not a hardware layer shift error, but some kind of software bug. Version 2.9.3 causes exactly the same effect for me, mainly when there are many identical objects on the table. With a single object, the error occurs rarely, but with several instances, it occurs almost always. Restoring the previous version of the slicer and printer software completely eliminates the problem. My setup is an updated MK4S with MMU3.
RE:
..and I'm not sure if the new version of the slicer (2.9.4) together with the current 6.2.6 software solves this problem, I haven't checked.
RE: Print head strangely shifted right
I agree. I also noticed Prusa used to mark the radius of "danger zone" in the slicer, when multiple objects are used. This feature was removed. Maybe because of the bug? bug?
