6.1.4 Firmware for Original Prusa MK4S with MMU3

Summary

  • Shipping Preparation Option for Factory Reset

This is a stable release of firmware 6.1.4 for the MK4S with MMU3. This update introduces a new feature primarily to support internal shipping needs, ensuring that the bundled printer and MMU3 unit is configured correctly out of the box. Users don’t need to install this update unless specifically advised, as it is intended mainly for manufacturing and shipping support without impacting regular printer functionality.

Shipping Preparation Option for Factory Reset

A new "Shipping preparation" option has been added to the Factory Reset submenu. This option enables a factory reset that also pre-configures the printer's “Nextruder type” settings in the EEPROM before the machine restarts. This ensures that, when the customer first starts up their machine, it displays the correct printer type (MK4S) and Nextruder type (“MMU”).
After receiving the printer, users must complete the full setup wizard with the MMU disabled. This is necessary to calibrate key components, such as the filament sensor, which is required to enable MMU. Once the wizard is completed, users can activate the MMU3 manually.

RE: 6.1.4 Firmware for Original Prusa MK4S with MMU3

Hello Jan,

is it planned to progress with bugs also? Eventually also implementing useful information on USB Print screen? Because to me as Octoprint user, this is very useful...

To me as a person from outside, it sometimes looks, that the GUI isn`t really user oriented, it seems that changes made based on the first idea...
I also mean espaciallly the toolhead menu chage in 6.2.0 alpha. To me, one of the most used GUI funtion, after Loading Filaments to nozzle and unload is "changing the nozzle diameter" in the menu, now this setting will move again another level down.

I often change the nozle, cause the printer features makes it easy, but for me changing the nozzle is more simple as changing the nozzle settings.

But anyway, as I knew, for USB print users it is useless to change nozzle diameter, because all features related USB Print which the MK3 has, were not implemented in the MK4, including GCode checks.

It feels, that the USB Print users should be discriminated with the target to use PrusaLink.

But for the most users, which ahs implemented 3rd party components with octoprint, PrusaLink is no option.

Greets Thorsten

Hello,

I have a MK4S but not a MMU3.
After upgrading to 6.1.4 the filament change does not work anymore, it can't detect filament is removed and just hang...
I have downgraded to 6.1.3 and now it is working again.

Hello,

I have a MK4S but not a MMU3.
After upgrading to 6.1.4 the filament change does not work anymore, it can't detect filament is removed and just hang...
I have downgraded to 6.1.3 and now it is working again.

I also don't have an MMU (of any version), and I've been running the alpha2 version of 6.2.0 without any major issues. I haven't tried 6.1.4 because the alpha2 of 6.2.0 was released first... The M600 filament change location has moved from the front-right (from the user's perspective) to the front-left (that took me by surprise the first time), but I don't see that as an issue. Front-right was a little easier for me to reach because my MK4S is in the Prusa enclosure and where I usually sit the front-right is a more straight line reach. I may put in a github request for the front-right/front-left default M600 location to be configurable. Yes, I know (at least according to the Marlin documentation, I haven't checked to see if Prusa's implementation of M600 takes arguments) that one should be able to specify x and y for the color change parking location, but see below why I want a configurable color change parking location...

I was pleased recently with the strain-gauge clog feature saving a print that I didn't think would work. I was using a filament with flecks (black mica?) in it on a 0.25mm nozzle on a lark, fully expecting to get a clog. Well, I did get a clog, but that just triggered the M600 routine (thus my desire for configurable location). I actually got several clogs, and on the finished print I can't find where the clogs that happened on the exterior perimeter happened even though I know where to look.  I don't know what version of the firmware introduced this feature, but I first discovered it on 6.2.0 alpha2.
