X Carriage Bearings No Longer Move Smoothly After Tightening the X Carriage Clip

Chapter 3, Step 23:
https://help.prusa3d.com/guide/3-x-axis-x-carriage-assembly_707749#724081

While the 4 screws are loose, the carriage moves as smoothly as the loose bearings, freely sliding from end to end when tilting the assembly. Although the 4 screws are not to be tightened at this point, the more I tighten the screws, the rougher the movement becomes; it is no longer a freely moving assembly, feeling like the rod has bumps in it or like the bearings are pitted. I feel there is a misalignment in the X-carriage-back, the X-carriage-clip, or both. The rubber pad is inserted properly and the bearings are aligned properly on the rod. I am concerned about proceeding further. My MK3S moves freely.

Is there a defect in the printed X-Carriage-Back and/or the X-Carriage-Clip?

I am concerned the printer will throw an X Axis error when I try and print something.

Help me understand what to do about the poor bearing movement.
