MK4S bottom (with supports) is very rough

I'm having trouble with the bottom of my prints, the supports are difficult to release and they look "ropey".  This example is the adorable Tux penguin ( https://cults3d.com/en/3d-model/art/tux ) that I 'painted' with the multimaterial painting tool.  I also did some little hippos with "snug" supports and the bottom results were similar.

MK4S + MMU3

PLA printed with organic supports

.2mm structural (Prusa slicer), 15% infill

.4mm nozzle (the 'normal speed' one that came with the MMU3 kit)

I don't know what other print parameters are significant, but I do have the project file saved.  I think the rest are all default, other than the extruder information.

Any advice is appreciated!

As I suspected, the curves under the model don't allow enough room for supports so the first few layers have edges printing in mid air - this is why we always advise designers to use chamfers and avoid fillets.

For a neat print cut in the slicer, rotate the cut surfaces down, and join after printing.

No attachment of anything like a project file or pictures, so we cant tell. Please zip up any files to attach them or the forum wont except them.  Images of course can be added with the add media button.

In general though the bottom of prints on top of supports will be 'rough and ropey' as you describe.  Unless of course you have zero gap.  Of course with zero gap you need soluble supports or a different material currently otherwise they will just fuse and be impossible to remove.  With current technology of course.

Agreed - putting images behind a passworded login isn't much use.

Looking at the model page: it's not well designed for 3D printing 'though possible.  I would probably split it down the middle for ease of printing and join the parts afterwards.

Thanks for the quick reply.

I tried to include a link to a picture of the print, do you not see it? (above my "advice is appreciated")  It's a link to dropbox, but next time I'll ZIP and upload first off.

A-ha!  Figured out what you meant by attach (Add Media button).  Here's a ZIP with my project file and a photo of the result:

Thanks again.

Ugh... That's dropbox.  I used the "anyone with link can see" option, but apparently that doesn't work the same way it used to.  I understand now.
