Looking for reasons for multiple X an Y Axis shifts during print process

print problem

Hi there!

normaly my Prusa MK4s is doing an reliable great job, but this morning I the result to photo shows.

If I count right, I had 3 times a shift of the position of the Y-axis and at least 5 times a shift in the X-axis position.

I never had something like this.
What could be the reason for it?

Thanks for any suggestions!

regards

Peter

Can you restart the print and stand next to it? Maybe you'll see when, where, and how the delay occurs.Among other things, it could be that the nozzle is hitting the filament that is swelling up at the corners.

It looks like a first layer adhesion problem.  Those ragged edges and gaps have risen into the head path and caused the original crash - once started the repeats are due to hitting the related debris ...  The hole in the front right hand corner might be the root cause.

So the two standard answers apply:  get the print sheet really clean - look up the many threads on here about the process,

And

Make sure the first layer probe is good - check the nozzle is not loose, make sure it's clean, watch the nozzle tip while the print bed heats - if there is oozing abort the print, dry your filament and try again.

It is possible that there is another issue amplifying the problem but it is masked by the mess so once you have a whole print examine it and if it's not good, show us.

Cheerio,

Thanks, everyone.

In the meantime, I've had time to take a closer look at the issue. Yes, the first layer had an adhesion problem, which I noticed straight away on my second attempt.

However, the cleanliness of the print bed was not the problem. It was a test print for which I had used older PETG filament that was obviously too damp. After drying the filament again at 45°C for 5 hours, the subsequent print test was flawless.

Thanks again for your help!
