Transparent PG front case for Prusa Mk4

I am printing the PG front case (R3), using transparent Prusament PETG. (I want to see the planetary gears when I am printing).

I am using a specific printing profile that I found on Printable ( https://www.printables.com/model/545229-glass-profile-for-prusament-petg )

The printing results that I have are great, BUT, since I am printing with a 100% infill, the part is extremely rigid and I cannot insert the spacer/washer inside the PG front case (step 14 on https://help.prusa3d.com/guide/1c-parts-preparation_495623)

Do you have any tips for inserting the washer other than redesigning the part?

Just posting to follow this thread because I love the idea of a transparent cover to see the gears.

Try using lots of top and bottom layers, so that there is no 100% infill
Try printing outer perimeter first. it tends to give better dimensional stability.
the top and bottom layers are effectively 100% but they tend to print better than 100% infill

The idea of having 100% infill with a rectilinear pattern, is that if we have changes in density or filling patterns, it will refract the light, making the object less transparent. The print speed is also extremely low, making that the PG case part, take almost 4 hours to print.

and after 4 hours of printing you end up with a piece that doesn't fit with the spacer washer. so you ask for suggestions and then veto them without trying.
Progress may be slow for you.
I would consider giving the suggestion a try, and if the suggestion worked but the clarity was poor, I Would look at options to achieve the new dimensions with improved clarity.

I have printed the r3 Front case and installed it on my printer, admittedly it was not clear filament, but it was successful.

100% infill regularly produces poor dimensional accuracy.

until someone offers you an alternative suggestion you may as well try the one that's been offered.

@lvet: Did you see this video by CNC Kitchen on the same subject, where he even shows the printing parameters in PrusaSlicer?:

Hi Joan,

Apologies for the misunderstanding. I tried your suggestion, but while the dimensional accuracy improved, the transparency decreased substantially.

What worked for me, was to slightly modify the design of the R3 front case and to reduce the thickness of the borders that are holding the washer. This allowed, after a bit of trial and errors, to find the right size that is holding the washer correctly.

Wow. Very nice video.

It looks like resin has a superior level of transparency. I will try to get hold of a resin printer 😀
