TPU settings that work with MK4

For those of you experimenting with TPU, I have used this method and these settings for multiple perfect prints:

First, loosen the two idler screws approx. 1.5 turns. A good method is to loosen the idler screws a little, load the TPU like any other filament, and loosen a bit more during the purging phase if the filament is not coming out of the nozzle. Don't forget to tighten back up when printing with other filaments.

Second, I used the following settings in PrusaSlicer with the satin sheet and have peeled it off without any residue or difficulty (I compiled these from different online posts):

  • Infill
    • Top fill pattern: Hilbert Curve
    • Bottom fill pattern: Hilbert Curve
  • Speed
    • Speed for print moves
      • Perimeters: 20
      • Small perimeters: 20
      • External perimeters: 20
      • Infill: 15
      • Solid infill: 15
      • Top solid infill: 15
      • Support material: 15
      • Gap fill: 15
    • Speed for non-print moves
      • Travel: 150

I left all other settings as the defaults for Generic Flex. It seems the The Hilbert curve on the bottom makes it easier to pull the print off the plate. It probably isn't necessary on the top. I hope this helps some of you get great TPU prints!

@doctorg These settings worked for me too! Thanks!!

I even got a small hangover ridge to print properly!  😉  I am using "OVERTURE TPU Filament 1.75mm Flexible Roll, 95A Soft 3D Printer Filament" with a nozzle temp of 235C and bed temp of 65C. I used the textured bed and though it took a bit of careful tugging, the piece came off without a problem.

Thank you!
