Seam problems
Are others still having problems with seams? I am printing with ColorFabb VarioShore TPU and keep getting this. Is there maintenance I need to do or an easy solution?
RE: Seam problems
Are you wishing it wasn’t a line or just too wide a seam? You may know seam position can be painted on manually to a different position, or you can choose a random seam.. You might notice a few dots for the random seam, but you can use “fuzzy” skin on outside to hide that.
RE: Seam problems
I've printed the same item before without any lines. I'm not sure why now I'm getting the same line in the same place. I did just update the firmware.
RE: Seam problems
I'll give that a try and let you know. Thanks,
Joe
RE: Seam problems
Yes, I have similar problems. Looks like over extrusion to me. When I try and randomize the seam I get dots all over the place, like in the picture.
I am going to play with the extrusion multiplier to see if I can affect it, unless people have other suggestions
RE: Seam problems
That's exactly the result I got. I put the seams back because the dots were pretty bad.
RE: Seam problems
After reading this article, i think we just have to live with it!

RE: Seam problems
I think so. I just don't remember seams on my previous machine projects.
RE: Seam problems
It seems to me that seams got much worse with IS (input shaper) profile enabled. The seams were barley visible before, but with IS profile, they are quite prominent. You can try to switch to a non-IS profile until Prusa solves this problem.
RE:
I have the same problem. I did not have that kind of seam problem on MK3S+, but it seems it is related to MK4IS profiles. I use default settings.
RE: Seam problems
Two recommendations for seams: if you can, try painting them on a corner, as it makes them less noticeable. This would be easier if Prusa ever implemented this: https://github.com/prusa3d/PrusaSlicer/issues/5970.
A second option is to use OrcaSlicer. It has an experimental feature for "scarf seams". They use a gradual overlap and are much less visible. However, OrcaSlicer doesn't have recent versions of the Prusa profiles, so it may take a bit of setting up.
