Prusament PETG Organic supports issues
Whenever I try to print organic supports with Prusament PETG (2 different spools, one brand new) and I get the result below.
This is with double walls and support speed set to 75 from original 120 mm/s.
Typically no other issues in my prints, just this very annoying blocker - any ideas?
Try rotating the part on the print sheet - does the flaw persist? If so does it rotate with the part or remain in the same orientation with respect to the printer?
Cheerio,
RE: Prusament PETG Organic supports issues
Hi, sorry to reply late, did not see any notification via email.
I have several supports, 5 others, that exhibit the same issue. I rotated the piece 90 deg - testing now and thanks for the suggestion.
RE: Prusament PETG Organic supports issues
Tried rotating, but the same issue. I did several things to fix this:
- reduced the Support material speed to 60mm/s
- reduced the Support material interface to 50% (not that it matters I think in my case)
- printed with the non-IS profile for MK4
I did not test with PLA yet, but I don't want to believe that for such a simple use-case as of mine the default preset Prusa Premium PETG preset is incorrect.
I will use the official support to report this.

Tried rotating, but the same issue.
If the issue rotated with the print it may be a design issue.
If it remained in alignment with the printer it is likely to be a fan/fan shroud problem. Make sure the shroud is correctly aligned and undamaged. Clean the fan blades and make sure there is no fine stringing clogging the hub then dismount it and carefully peel back the sticker on the back - drop just one drop of light machine oil into the back of the bearing and replace the sticker.

RE: Prusament PETG Organic supports issues
Hi,
Thanks. The shroud is aligned, but I did not make sure it's clean - will do that.
I did not yet put a machine oil, but will do so...after I get my new nozzle. Now, flashback: I raised this to tech support, and, after not being able to print in PETG also this, being suggested by them, cleaning the nozzle, tightening the belts, etc, they suggested to get a new nozzle. I had my doubts, but in essence I gave up, and will order a new one. In the meantime, I'm printing the same model in PLA, which, until now seems not to exhibit the same issue. I have a nagging feeling this might be a preset issue, but I don't have proof, neither see people with the same thing...so it must be something on my end, other than the filament I guess.
Below you can see a few pictures I did for Prusa support, of the Snug supports option I tried using. It seemed that the supports did not have any adherence to the PETG bed before.
Your original pictures do show a little warping which suggests that bed cleanliness might be an issue and perhaps brim would help but that was neither your question or your primary problem.
Cheerio,
