Printing two items at once. Only one failed.
I didn't realize before starting that printing multiple large items was a no-no, lesson learned the hard way lol. I'm printing a helmet in parts, the two parts I'm currently printing are a quarter of the 'dome' (part that sits on the head) and half of the cylinder that goes around the neck. Only the cylinder failed.
Prior to this I successfully printed another near-identical 2 object print (another quarter of the dome, and the matching half the cylinder)
Note that the STL is for a 'damaged' helmet, hence the irregularities. Nothing has changed in the room: the ambient temperature is about the same, same table the 3D printer is sitting on, etc.
Printing on MK4 kit I built myself. Material is Hatchbox PLA (have used it to print several other things without issue).Slicer preview also looked fine (see below). I watched the first layer go down and it was fine.

Forgot to mention, I did wipe down the bed with rubbing alcohol beforehand like I usually do, and made sure there wasn't any material still adhered to it.

i believe you can stop individual objects printing (as opposed to stopping the entire print). idk how to fix your problem though 🙁
It's hard to tell from the picture - do you have overhangs on a concave curve?
This will pull filament away from the path and lead to the sort of issue pictured. Painting on snug supports might be enough to fix it 'though the surface may still be rough - sanding and painting should be enough to disguise it.
Otherwise tilting the part 45° so that the curve is uppermost would give a better result but may cause problems elsewhere.

Hey, thanks for your reply. There isn't overhang on the concave side (unless I misunderstand). I already printed a piece identical to this one, but mirrored (in the same orientation) and it printed OK. It's something mechanical that is causing it to shift.

Update,
I tried printing the two remaining quarters of the dome, and one of them failed. However, the piece that failed is on the opposite side of the bed (the left side had shifting this time, instead of the right side when I tried to print the quarter dome and half cylinder together). I caught it early this time and it exhibited x-axis shifting, so I think it's an issue with the extruder part. I will check the grub screws and update
