Please confirm that this prints badly
I have been working on documenting what I think is a bug in the motion planning routines of the firmware (see here) and before I make a new submission on GitHub I would like confirmation that the problem is not just in my MK4. Therefore I would be very grateful if a few of you printed the attached stl file in vase mode and in normal layer by layer mode. It is a small object and should take very little time to print.
You can see the problem in the photo, and I can say that it goes away if the object is made larger, either in the original stl or by expanding it in PrusSlicer, My Voron printer which runs RepRap firmware prints the object without any issues.
I know that the problem is not with PrusaSlicer because I have versions of the object made with gcode written without any slicer and they all print correctly.
RE: Please confirm that this prints badly
Whoops. My last sentence is wrong. where I wrote "they all print correctly" you should read "they print with the same blobs". Sorry.
RE: Please confirm that this prints badly
Do you just want other Mk4 users to print it or do you want an example from a mk3 too ?
RE: Please confirm that this prints badly
Printed two models, one in vase mode and one with a single perimeter and don't see any difference, or anything out of the ordinary.
PrusaSlicer-2.7.0-rc1+MacOS-x64-202311161439
Firmware: 5.1.0-alpha2+13126
RE: Please confirm that this prints badly
@reify-3d-2 Well that's very interesting, thank you. And unexpected. I'll update my slicer to 2.7.0 rc1 from the beta, but I expect that will make no difference to me. I don't know what to try next...
RE: Please confirm that this prints badly
@neophil Yes please. Print on any machines you have. If Reify-3D's result is general then I will have to re-think.
RE: Please confirm that this prints badly
already printed them when I got back from work
Like Reify both printed perfectly. I can take a pic if needed.
RE: Please confirm that this prints badly
Thanks Neophil. No need for a photo. It's sounding like there is aproblem with my control board 🙁
Would you mind printing one more thing? I have problems with G3 arcs as well, and I have a simple test model for them. I have a bug report here https://github.com/prusa3d/Prusa-Firmware-Buddy/issues/3474 that contains a test file that I'm uploading again here.
RE: Please confirm that this prints badly
I don't think my MK3 (non S) firmware supports G3 arcs as I'm deliberately running an older version (3.7.1) before they changed to Linear Advance 1.5. There's not a single feature addition in the newer ones that I need so I didn't bother upgrading something that works perfectly.
I'll leave that to those who have the newer buddy based MK3.X/Mk4's 🙂
