MK4 keeps giving me File error

Can anyone assist me with getting my printer to read my "NEW SanDisk 64" as soon as I enter it, the printer throws the error code "File error/ Failed to open file" my printer was working fine. I didn't use it for a couple months and I comeback to it and then all of a sudden nothing works.  What is odd is that i can enter the Prusa USB that came with the printer and lets me print the scraper without a fluke. Also, i noticed what changed is, before it would give me an image of what it was going to print and now it doesn't. I have spent several hours with Prusa and have requested i buy new USB did that, update to 6.0 done that, then downgrade back to the one before (5.1 or whatever it is) and nothing seems to let me print a new file. I'm only trying the files that others have uploaded on Prusa site and then open in slicer (latest version) if anyone can help me I would appreciate it so much. Willing to compensate someone that's willing to show me what I'm doing wrong and get it to print a file. thank you for any help community

Whereabouts in the world are you (not street address)? Perhaps someone in the same country can arrange to swap a drive with you and check the basics..?

Not sure if this is relevant, but I believe you need to have FAT32 format and I think some people have had problems with USB sticks larger than 32GB.  Sometimes there are corrupted (or hidden) files on the stick after power failure or caused by other/unknown issues that prevent the USB stick from being 'read' by Prusa printer.

p.s. I'm in Iowa . . .

I'm in the UK so too far for sensible postal swaps.

Is there anyone in SW US able to A) Send a known good USB stick with a sample file and B) Accept, test and analyse a suspect one?

[ I use SanDisk USB which arrive formatted in a manner that just works out of the box - it might be necessary to partition to sub 32GB as @cyclonengr suggests or, the OP might have been sold counterfeit drives, there were a lot about a couple of years ago. ]

Cheerio,

I will certainly try a 32GB scan disk , i got a 64 scandisk cause that's what the lady suggested. I will order new ones and try it out.

*********** The thing i find so odd is i can print the files that came with the purse starter kit , which included the spatula , the rocket engine and a couple more. So the printer itself is working , just something to do with the files off slicer or maybe the downaloads. What program comes with the purse out of the box ? I still have the updated 6.0 .

An thanks again everyone for taking the time out and help out with some input

RE: MK4 keeps giving me File error

you should be able to re format the 64Gb Scandisk with FAT32 (On your computer), and make it work on your printer.  without having to wait for a new memory stick to arrive

regards  Joan

I try to make safe suggestions,You should understand the context and ensure you are happy that they are safe before attempting to apply my suggestions, what you do, is YOUR responsibility. Location Halifax UK
