Debossed / embossed text without supports, how?

Hello. So I just learned you can deboss / emboss text on vertical sides of a print (see number 2 and number 3) without using any supports. Can someone explain how this is possible?

For the debossed parts (number 3) I suppose it's possible thanks to bridging...?

But what about the embossed parts (number 2)? How is this possible?

It all depends on how much the relief protrudes from the surface. If it is within approx. 0.4 - 0.8 mm, there will be no problem and the printer will handle it. If more were needed (which is probably unrealistic in relation to the size of the print), it will probably be necessary to apply organic supports to problem areas. Look carefully at how little the text sticks out in relation to the size of the cube. The relief meant in this way is more than enough to emphasize the text, it is difficult for someone to let such text stick out by a few millimeters, this function is not intended for that.

Just as an addition to understanding "how the printer can do it", it is enough to look into the slicer and watch, layer by layer, how the printer places the individual fibers of the perimeters on top of each other and next to each other.

Thank you for the tip, bit I can't say that I understand more after doing this. Looking at the start of embossed text (the lowest part of the letters) from the bottom-up, we see that the printer is basically just printing in the air. How can these not be collapsing without support?

They will collapse, but only slightly due to the cooling. So the bottom edges of the text that sticks out will droop.
Often though on a finished print you don’t notice too much u less examined in detail and over all the text will be fine and legible still.

And remember that lines of filament will be touching, that gives it something to grip on to so as Neophyl says, the the cooling fans will then make everything solid before it can sag significantly. Try it with something simple and you will see, for instance: https://www.printables.com/model/731975-20mm-chamfered-test-cube
