Annoing line in prints

In the attached file (dc955a78-printline.png) the red arrow is pointing at and annoying line that I assume is the beginning (and end) of each layer as the printer lays down the filament.  Is there anything I can do in the slicer to obscure this line so it's not so obvious?

Thanks

Bill Lugg

RE: Annoing line in prints

It's the seam, which is where the nozzle moves to the next layer and is inevitable unless you can print the object in vase mode. There are options to adjust the seam in settings but on round objects like this the slicer can't hide it in a corner. V2.9 introduced "scarf seams" which are supposed to hide those seam lines but frankly in my limited experimentation with it I found it to be unimpressive and create artifacts elsewhere on the object.

Thanks for the reply.  I looked at vase mode and I don't believe it's going to work for my application.  However, I just printed a cylindrical object with Seam Position set to Random and all the associated Seam settings left at their defaults and found the result to be quite acceptable on a 70 mm diameter cylinder.  The result might be different on the item I photographed or on a smaller item, which I happen to be printing right now.  But, for now I'm going to go with this solution

Thanks again,

I also found "random" to often be a good solution for cylindrical objects. Hope it works for you.
