Z-Axis Threads

Hi. i'm curious?  I got my MK4 just recently and i'm wondering :

why do the threads/Nut on the Z-Axis have to be"dry", not lubricated ?  (As mentioned in the maintenance manual )

thank you for enlighten me 🙂

RE: Z-Axis Threads

Delrin or {POM} is a plastic that does not need lubrication, the surface of the plastic is a low friction material that does not need supplementary lubrication.

also: if you add lubrication, without a constant stream of it, the lube will attract dust, which then becomes an abrasive slurry, and will slowly erode the delrin. Much faster than if the delrin was left dry.
