Z-Axis Threads
Hi. i'm curious? I got my MK4 just recently and i'm wondering :
why do the threads/Nut on the Z-Axis have to be"dry", not lubricated ? (As mentioned in the maintenance manual )
thank you for enlighten me 🙂
RE: Z-Axis Threads
Delrin or {POM} is a plastic that does not need lubrication, the surface of the plastic is a low friction material that does not need supplementary lubrication.

OK. Thank you. since i got mine assembled, i could not see that. 🙂
(so the tapered thread inside the nut ist delrin or the whole nut ? )
RE: Z-Axis Threads
the whole nut is POM

RE: Z-Axis Threads
also: if you add lubrication, without a constant stream of it, the lube will attract dust, which then becomes an abrasive slurry, and will slowly erode the delrin. Much faster than if the delrin was left dry.
RE: Z-Axis Threads
if at all, i was thinking of "dry teflon lubrication"
