Z Axis presses down on bed

We have an MK4 that we have had for about 4 or 5 months and have used extensively and it's been working great.  Today, though, for some reason the z axis is messing up.  I press the z calibration and it moves down until it is pressing hard on the print bed (enough to actually make it flex a bit).  At this point the nozzle is probably about a cm below the flat position or so.  The printer is still trying to spin the motors like it's trying to go further down.  I also tried the load cell test and it passed so it should be sensing the pressure as far as I can tell.  I tried to let it go to see if it would figure it out but it just kept pressing down for a good minute or two and then went further up but then just went straight back down and did it again.  I just reset it at this point but that seems to be all it will do with the z axis at this point.

Any help is appreciated.  Want our printer back :(.  Do I need to factory reset?  We are on firmware 5.1.2.

Just an update, we have tried factory reset and using firmware versions 4.7.2, 5.0.0, and 5.1.2 all with the same basic result.  Here is a video of what it does trying the z axis test:

It says check that the load cell is working right but every time I run the load cell test it works normally.
