Very loud first layer vibrations (X-axis)

I cannot seem to find the source of this sound. It is not the fan, fan housing, extruder thumb screws or any other M3 on the extruder. Im afraid Im going to have to disassemble the X-axis carriage to replace a bad bearing...

I'm getting a heavy rattle on long x moments as well.  Also looking like the top x rod may have some scratches on it, where bottom rod looks nice and smooth.

Wow, that looks and sounds bad. Honestly, seeing these scratches, I'd advice you to just contact support via live chat and send them both the photo and the video. That rod is busted, you need a warranty replacement. It sounds like a binding bearing scratching the rod further too, so I assume those would need replacing as well.

Yep warranty replacement needed and if you want you can make them repair it

RE: Very loud first layer vibrations (X-axis)

Just got off chat with support (which was excellent), and they are sending me new bearing (could have sent printer to them but opted for bearings).

Checked:

  • x carriage screws (all were tight on mine)
  • belt tension (noise did quiet a little when belt was tightened)
  • rod integrity, what appears to be scratches are tracks in the lubricant left by the bearing in the picture above (was happy to hear that as I have had to change a rod on my MK3 due to bearing scratching it)

Was given the option to get new bearing and self replace (does not affect warranty as they gave me the choice) or send the printer to their service (packing it back up and driving a hour to ship it out did not sound like fun, part of living in rural America).

Thanks to Marcin and Viktor on the support team for their help.
