USB stick size limits?

They keep making USB sticks with larger and larger capacities, is there a limit to the size stick the firmware (I'm on 5.0.0) will support? I definitely need to get a different stick, the one prusa ships is almost impossible to plug and unplug because it fits too tight (in my computer and in the MK4).

This knowledge base article covers questions about USB drive size and formatting options for USB drives over 32GB.

Yep I found the article saying it has to be FAT32 and FAT32 only supports 32GB, so that's the biggest stick I can get (I guess). Sticks that small seem to be really cheap.

2TB is the maximum size that can be formatted in fat32 format.

And the maximum file size is 4GB.

The problem with the 32GB limit with fat32 is caused by the windows format.

I myself use a third-party format program to format larger than 32GB in fat32 format.

But then there is the limitation of the printer.

My mini+ no longer sees the files if the stick is larger than 32GB.

RE: USB stick size limits?

I have a 128GB Stick on the MK4 and no Problem.

Kingston DataTraveler microDuo

It´s formatted with FAT32.

At the moment I have only a few gcode-files on it, so I don´t know if there will be troubles when there are much files on it, but I guess that´s no problem.

RE: USB stick size limits?

Afaik yes, but I can check later.

First I have had the 64GB, which worked well and because of I wanted have a second one and the price was almost the same I got the 128GB, which also works.

(I wanted to have the dual-Connectors USB-A and USB-C for the MacBook)

I got my new 32GB stick (a bunch of them actually since they were selling a 5 pack :-), and even though they appeared to be already formatted with fat32, files wouldn't show up on the LCD. Erased the existing partition, made new one from scratch (with gparted on linux), and it worked fine. I guess fat32 isn't always fat32? Anyway, the new stick fits much better in the socket now.

RE: USB stick size limits?

I thought it also had a limit as to number of files on the card?

I think it is Kingston that makes a card with USB-C and regular USB, which is great for MACs that are only USB-c
