RE:

The wifi and prusa connect bugs need to be fixed. But how is the printing? I'm going to give them the benefit of the doubt and let them address those issues over time. I'm pretty pleased myself with the printing - which is very good. Also I think the performance of the printer will improve as well as the next slicer is developed - I think it can print a lot faster than the current software is demonstrating. In the mean time... sneaker net... or patience.

The sd card upload issues have plagued marlin for years and there has been very little progress towards fixing it. It's not just prusa printers, it's all boards running marlin. I doubt we'll see a fix anytime soon, if ever. If wifi printing is important to you, best to just print from a pi using octoprint or klipper and forget about any fixes from marlin or prusa. Klipper is better anyways imo.

RE: Slow WIFI

Prusa did wifi on Mini/MK4/XL in their own way, with they own ESP8266 firmware, own handling of that in Prusa-Buddy firmware and this is *unrelated* to any other Marlin/other printers.

Like what? I'm just interested to know.....

Its almost like Prusa marketed a concept printer, but delivered a fraction of what was initially promised, making it seem like a work in progress of sorts. I understand things need tweaking and developing, but the printer was released with big features completely missing (Input Shaper for instance, which still isnt fully released), making users the 'testers'. Maybe in a year or two we will be at the point Prusa promised during initial release!

Also, outside of Wi-Fi, all the other reasons I purchased this printer are still not implemented or don't function as Prusa presented them during the product introduction.

RE: Slow WIFI

I asked one of the presenters at MakerFaire Prague about WIFI performance - he was optimistic, saying they are working on some solvable problems with the usb driver (or problems between wifi and usb drivers.. did not discus in depth).

I contacted Prusa support and asked if this would ever get better. The answer was, "we don't know." This was one of the main reasons I purchased this printer, and trying to figure out if I should keep the printer and wait or if this is as good as it gets. Based on this discussion, it seems that this is as good as it will get and or it will never reach OctoPrint performance. I have to make a decision before the 27th.

RE:

If they aren't going to or can't fix the slow network speeds the least they could do would be to add proper G2/G3 Arc support to PrusaSlicer. That would cut the output gcode file size in half.

You can add the ArcWelder plugin to PrusaSlicer easily enough to accomplish this but baked in support would be much better. OrcaSlicer and SuperSlicer already have it.

There are also tools like MeatPack that can greatly reduce the size of the gcode file.

RE: Slow WIFI

Just completed the Mk4 kit, did any check the GCODE Thumbnail, its creating 3 of them (which adds to GCODE file size), you likely only need 1 or 2...  I am trying to get to the root of this so will be posting a few questions in the Slicer forum.

Many Thanks

RE: Slow WIFI

Doesn't seem like the thumbs matter all that much.  There was only a 0.1MB difference between all three thumbs and no thumbs on the test file I did.

The funny thing is that old, 8-bit firmware, in version 3.13  got meatpack support.

With new 5.0 RC firmware there is a new regression with slows down MK4 wifi even more: https://github.com/prusa3d/Prusa-Firmware-Buddy/issues/3198

RE: Slow WIFI

Arek, I've noticed the same regression issue and commented about it on github.  5.0.0-RC has way slower WiFi speeds than alpha4.  I even downgraded my printer firmware to alpha4 and the WiFi speeds went back to being fast again.

If you want to downgrade to an earlier version, you need to click the knob in immediately after hitting the reset button... only then will it prompt you to install a firmware file that's older.

RE: Slow WIFI

Just installed new v6.x firmware and wifi transfer got terribly slow to MK4! Dowgrading to last v5.x fw made it back faster.

Any solution?

Thank you
