Obsidian Nozzle has a smaller diameter than supposed.

Hi

about 2 weeks ago i got 2 Nozzles (0,4 + 0,6)  and installed the 0,4 obsidan  immediately. I was wandering though, that the print results were not as good as they had been with the brass nozzle.

I had to tune the flow rate from 1 to 1,1 on petg for example. I thought, it might be the different heat conduction of the steel.

Yesterday i tried to clean the nozzle an found, that an 0,4 cleaning needle, wich fits perfekt into the brass nozzle, got jammed in the obsidian nozzle.

I checked the diameter of the needles: perfect 0,4 mm.

Than i took an new 0,6 brass nozzle and the 0,6 needle went in snug. But no way to get it all the way into the 0,6 obsidian nozzle.

I wonder, if the additional coating also is inside the nozzle an therefore reduces the diameter. In my opinion, that would be a design flaw than.

Do you noticed similar issues.

RE: Obsidian Nozzle has a smaller diameter than supposed.

Hi I have a E3D Nozzle X and see the same thing. I need to put in at least 1.1 as Extrusion Multiplier to compensate. There is also a coating on the Nozzle X so I think that your assumption is correct for coated nozzles. I just opened a new topic to find out how to compensate for it the right way. I do not want to tweak all filament settings and then, if I want to use the 0.4 nozzle again change all settings back. There needs to be a way to change this in printer settings for the 0.6 nozzle.
