Nextruder Stepper Issue
For some months my MK4 has had intermittent filament feeding problems. The filament would just stop feeding and not start again. I found that if I release the idler the nextruder would start turning again. I could then fasten the idler and it would start feeding the filament again (for a while).
Today I removed the nextruder from the stepper motor. I then realised that the stepper has a tight spot when I turn the shaft. 95% of the revolution is free turning. Just 5% is tight and needs extra effort. So I think I found the problem. I tried squirting some silicon lubricant around the shaft. It didn't free anything up.
Does anyone know if I can undo the 4 screws and take the motor apart without ruining it?
RE: Nextruder Stepper Issue
I decided what the heck. I took the motor apart. I couldn't see anything in there which I could alter, so I put it back together again. The tight spot has gone! So I'll put the motor back in the printer and try a print. I'll post again in a while when I know the result.
RE: Nextruder Stepper Issue
Yep, that fixed it. I got a perfect print. Something must have been mis-aligned in the motor. I disturbed it when I took it apart and put it back together again.
