MK4 Prusaslicer profile speeds

I noticed that when selecting a profile (i.e. structural or speed) it uses the same speeds no matter what material you have selected. The listed speeds seem ok for PLA but when I select PETG or ASA, it still has speeds that I would think are too fast for those materials. Can the MK4 reliably print ASA at 170mm/s perimeter and 200mm/s infill??

RE: MK4 Prusaslicer profile speeds

The printer may be able to handle speeds this high reliably when using the IS (input shaper) profiles.  I say maybe because Prusa published generic IS adjustments based on in house testing that should, but may not be right for your machine. Actual print speed capability is solidly tied to how much plastic your hotend can melt as you go. This value is represented as the maximum volumetric flowrate and is filament specific for any given hotend.  Since infill lines are  the least demanding in this regard it is normal to push infill a little faster then other lines, such a perimeter liners.

If your not using IS profiles, it is still possible to specify print speeds this high, because the slicer will clip speeds so that the maximum volumetric flowrate values specified in the filament profile will not be exceeded.

YMMV obviously but I for one have not had much joy printing ASA or PETG with IS profiles.
