Loadcell questions

I've had many of the same first layer problems as others in the forum and I'm wondering about the loadcell.

It clearly works at some level, but the no-load reading changes a lot from day to day (thousands different).

Is that typical, or does that mean there's something funky with my printer?

Looking at the way it's assembled, I realized that I don't see how it works.

The metal piece and loadcell location make sense on their own, but it seems weird that the nozzle side of that piece is what's fixed to the carriage, leaving the gears and extruder servo "floating".

I'm sure the Prusa folks know what they are doing, but I had a difficult time mounting the extruder assembly to the carriage and I'm wondering if that's behind my first layer issues. Hmm....

RE: Loadcell questions

Looking some more it seems that the nozzle part of the support piece can flex up and down "around" the carriage mounting points.

Still seems like the no-load values from the load cell (extruder someplace off the bed) should be the same from day to day.
