How do I know it's time to replace my nozzle?
Hello all,
I have been running my mk4 for about a year and a half, thereabouts, with no significant issues (I've had a few failures to adhere with my satin bed, and a few layer slips now and then, but generally easy peasy).
When do I know when it's time to change my nozzle? Like, what should I be looking for? I feel like I have put a fair bit of mileage on my stock nozzle, but I also don't print anything abrasive, almost always PLA and sometimes PETG or ASA, but rarely those.
Thanks!
I generally expect 2000 - 4000 hours from a brass nozzle; the lower figure if using a lot of white/pastel filament, the higher if clear or black.
The first signs are a sort of general fuzziness as if not quite in focus and a greater tendency for filament to curl and stick to the nozzle when loading. Later you will have problems with the greater tip area ploughing the still soft extrusions resulting in blobbing.
Cheerio,
