Help troubleshooting extruder

I’ve been having trouble with inconsistent flow since I had a filament tangle.  The filament did finally break but the nextruder pulled it pretty hard before it broke.  Things I’ve done…

-cold pull

-cleaned the feed gears off, they were dirty

-pulled out the nozzle assemble and reseated clearance looks correct

-all screws are tight.

My next thought is to take the nexteuder apart. But open to any other advice.

RE: Help troubleshooting extruder

leaving this here in case anyone else has similar issues.  The symptoms are almost as if you have wet filament.  After trying multiple cold pulls with multiple filaments I gave up.  None of the tips from the pulls looked quite right.  One of the things I failed to mention was that the .25 nozzle was working fine, only struggling with the .4.  Ordered a new nozzle and wala, it’s printing again.  As far as I know the crash didn’t hit anything, I was focused on the extruder because how much force was applied to the entire print head when the filament tangle happened.

My two hypothesis at this point.

1.  The filament broke in a location where the printer though it was still running allowing the filament to sit and “bake” for a couple of hours leaving behind very hard unremovable piece that I couldn’t get out with a cold pull.

2. I damaged the nozzle tip somehow when changing over from .25 to .40.

anyway it was the nozzle.
