Filament rubbed off in extruder

Hi everybody,

we are experiencing issues with our new MK4. Please see the fotos below.

The filament gets stuck in the extruder and seems to be rubbed off. The print does not work because there is not enough filament going through the extruder.

The spool is free and there is no jam or tilting in the spool.

I checked the new MK4 manual for help because we never had this kind of issue with our MK3S+ printers.

My guess so far is, that we might need to loosen the 2 springs next to the filament inlet? But I'm not sure about this.

Does anybody know the solution?

Thank you 🙂

Have you checked the tension of the bolts that hold the tensioner arm for over tensioning? This might be causing the tensioner to 'overpull' the filament into the drive gear in the extruder have it be eaten away at by said gear because the filament cant really move because only so much can flow at a time.

Alternatively, it could possibly be from a clog in the nozzle blocking the exit restricting flow or a setting with the sliced file (temp, flow factor, etc.)

That's all I can think of but someone else might have a different idea. Thought I'd just give a couple suggestions 😀

Hi. I have the same issue. I have made the gear calibration. I print with .4 nozzle with prusa petg and the gears make a "bounce back sound". I really hope that somebody has an answer. Sorry for not being helpful to you.

Thank you 🙂  It really was the tension of the bolts. However in my case they were too loose, I had to tighten them a little and now it works just fine. I checked with our second MK4 and adjusted them to about the same level, which did the trick for us 👍
