extruder noise when printing outlines

Hi!

I have searched, read and found nothing to solve this strange problem. My extruder is making very annoying sounds, I recorded a short video. Any idea what to do about it?

Same as me. I have this since 7 Months and the support cannot help me. I became new bearings for x and y but it don`t help. I my case, the vibrations seems to come from the right X-End probably from the pulley Idler or ftom the trapezoidal nut.

It is very hard to find out. But Iàm glad Iàm not the only one.

I don't think it's the bearings, it occurs when printing a long line, so there appears to be more rotation of the planetary gears than usual. I've had a look inside and i can see that, despite occasional use of this printer since it was assembled, the grease has changed from clear to black, so there must be quite a lot of friction there. It may be worth taking the nextruder apart and reassembling it again.... I don't know, maybe I'll give it a try.

No. It is not due to the planetary gearbox. This was actually my first thought. The fact that the grease turns black is normal due to the abrasion of the ring in the cover or the plastic. I have already removed and reinstalled the gearbox several times, including cleaning, and it runs as smooth as butter but it dont solve the problem. No difference noticable. If you listen with your ear while extruding on the gearbox, everything sounds normal.

I didn't buy the printer to spend hours every day tinkering with it and looking for a fault caused by a faulty design on the part of Prusa. Let them have their printer back and keep the money as far as I'm concerned. I'm fed up and will buy a Bambu Lab. At least they work without problems and cost less than half the price.

I totally agree with you, it's annoying.

I disassembled, cleaned and reassembled the whole nextruder. It didn't change anything, continues to make noise, you were right.

I've been annoyed with the printer ever since I got it. Nothing works properly. Even my printed parts have extreme ringing, despite the input shaper. It's just annoying and I just want to get rid of this printer.

Hi,  Mine too!  It is a pre-assembled I got direct when they first came out last spring.  Sounds like a bearing is missing a couple of balls with the vibration noise it makes. Maybe they forgot to load up the bearings with grease?  It seems to happen when printing all the time now, not just for long prints.  I just upgraded my MK3S+ to the full MK4, it will be interesting to see if the upgrade develops this vibration noise as well, but at least I know the bearings are well lubricated.  I may take this apart and re-lube the 3 bearings on the extruder, that is what my gut is telling me is making the noise.  Anyone do this yet??

Thanks!!

In my case, I have already replaced the bearings twice with new ones. an  Nothing has changed. And I greased them. My stock bearings were also greased. I also have a factory assembled printer.

RE: extruder noise when printing outlines

I'm getting this same noise on a MK3s upgraded to a MK4!

Last night while running a fairly long print I took a screwdriver and stuck the metal end on a few components while sticking the plastic end to my ear to listen during the movements that produced the buzz/rattle. The rattle was clearest and most prominent when I was probing the bottom X-axis rod so I suspect it might be the bearings there.

When I built the x-axis for the MK4 I reused the rods I had but instead of the original LM8UU bearings from my x-axis, I opted to use the ones from my z-axis as they seemed to have significantly less wear. My old x-axis rods did have some light scoring so I made sure they were installed in a way the bearings would rest on the remaining smooth sides.

I do have a new set of x-axis rods and LM8UU bearings to try out, but before I go that far I'm going to try the fix suggested in this thread: Fix for Rattling/Noisy X-axis Moves

RE:

Do you have your printer in an enclosure? Maybe the original Prusa Enclosure? In my case the downs screws from the sheet metal what is installed  instead of the PSU was loose and the sheet metal vibrates. Or in your case maybe the down screws from the psu which are screwed in the M3nE Nuts in the aluminium profile are loose? check all screws from the printer. May be ist helps.
