Disasterous first layer

Hey everyone, I've recently put my mk4 together, after being a longtime mk2 owner.  The first few prints were amazing, but something has now drastically changed.  I updated yesterday to 5.1, as the prusaslicer was prompting me to do so in order to use bgcode files.  I got two good prints out, but then it started doing this on the third.  I've tried this twice now, with similar results.

If you look at the picture, the levels seem to be catastrophically wrong- in different directions.  The bottom right corner looks to be super high, causing spaghetti prints, and there's a spot in the leftish side of the top where the printhead is so low that no filament comes out at all and causes the extruder to skip.

Any ideas what happened here?  Was it 5.1 that caused this?  Something else going on?  It doesn't seem like a hardware issue as nothing has changed, but I'm willing to listen to all ideas here.

Thanks!

Well, I ended up re-running the test and calibration steps, and tried again.  Perfect first layer.  I'm not clear what went wrong - and went wrong repeatedly - but it seems to have been fixed for now.

If you turn your printer off, the Z-axis calibration should follow after you turn it back on. This is because the Z-axis shafts are not self-locking after the printer is turned off and may rotate differently, and the X-axis may not be parallel to the print bed when turned on.

RE:

I don't know if you also ran it directly after flashing the firmware, but I read someone's account on this forum of a similar experience when updating to 5.0.0, and it was because they hadn't run a test/calibration on the new firmware yet.  Mine came with 5.0.0, so when I installed 5.1.0, I was sure to immediately run through the test/calibration with the result that I was immediately back to printing perfectly without a hitch.

Glad you got it worked out.
